Stretch Out Stress

Flexibility training is a key component to any healthy exercise and self-care routine. Stretching is a great part of a self-care routine to enhance oxygen flow throughout the body while calming the nerves of the neuromuscular system. Flexibility training is necessary to maintain full joint range of motion and also helps to prevent injury.

If you have barely stretched before then it is important to start out slow and gentle. Hold a stretch for thirty seconds or more to allow muscle fibers to properly loosen. Take big deep breaths while inhaling through your nose and exhaling out through your mouth. If you truly put this to practice you will notice a great increase in internal calmness with a deeper stretch.

Flexibility training becomes more comfy and unique when you get to wear your special yoga clothes. Grab yourself a clean hiking flex jacket where you can enjoy your yoga moves and stretching in cooler temperatures.

For outdoor hiking and stretching I always pack my yoga mat, extra water, an orange or two, and dress in layers! It is great to be able to breathe in the fresh air, feel the natural winds, and connect with nature while releasing other knots and stresses throughout your body.

Here are a few of my favorite flexibility and balance training exercises that I like to practice aside from my weekly workouts. A flexibility training day pairs best when followed with a slow stroll through downtown Boise shopping area. Stretch your body in the beginning of your day and allow enough time for muscles to repair with light exercise.

Happy New Year and here is to more stretching and practicing a healthy exercise and self-care routine.
